David Wilson started his combat training in Boxing and Judo in 1965. By the age of 14 years old he had competed in many official Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) competitions representing the Alexandra Palace Boxing Club before moving to the prestigious Shoreditch Boxing Club in North London, he also fought for his school and 16F Squadron.

David's formal training in martial arts began as a young adult studying Kenpo under the tutelage of Fujii Okimitsu and Andy McGill Sensei. Within six months of starting Kenpo, he was training a minimum of eighteen hours a week in the arts of Kenpo, Goshin Jujitsu, Aikido, Karate, Judo, and Kijutsu.

David earned his first Black Belt in Ki-Jitsu in 1987. In 1988 ( having specialised in several styles) he also earned his Shodan (1st-degree black belt) in several arts including, Goshin Jujitsu, Ki, Ki-Aikido, Aikijitsu, Kenpo, & Kempo JuJitsu. David opened his first dojo back in 1987 teaching Goshin Jujitsu as a member of the Kenseikai Budo Association, this was soon followed by classes in Kenpo as a member of Kenpo Kwai International.  Since the early 80's he has attended hundreds of international seminars, first as the main assistant (uke), and from 1996 as a guest instructor.

In 1998 David joined the Mushin Budo Association which was headed by his good friend John Griffiths breaking his ties with Kenpo Kwai International in an agreeable manner and opened the North Kent Academy of Martial Arts predominantly teaching a mixture of Kenpo, Jujitsu, and Aikido. The same year he started small private classes for his senior students at his private dojo in Swanley, Kent. Over the next two years ( aided by his senior students ) he worked hard developing what is now known as our Bushin Kenpo counter-attacking system and in 2002 he opened his first Bushin Kenpo Kai dojo in South Darenth, Kent. Running as an independent Kai (group, school, party) over the next ten year David forged strong ties with several organisations at home and abroad and in 2011 he formed the European Bushin Kenpo Martial Arts Academy to accommodate new dojo within the style.
