YUDANSHA PROMOTIONS 2020

I have been spending a considerable amount of time on academy admin of recent as I am sure you may have noticed.

In 2020 I will be contacting several of our senior (Yudansha) members in regard to their "time in active service" promotion, a few of these promotions will also need to be sanctioned by their respective dojo instructors.

Time in active service promotion is predominantly for members who have earned the grade of 5th Dan and above. The time between promotion is set by the number of the next degree.

Example: 5th Dan to 6th Dan, 6 years. 6th Dan to 7th Dan, 7 years.

Another factor that is taken into consideration is, has the bukoka been active in his/her training and teaching during the time between grades.  This is why in our guidelines it is called "time in active service", not just a designated time between grades.

There are no charges for promotion on my part, however, should the dojo instructor deem it necessary to grade or assess any individual, fees may apply.

The Invitation
I will contact the individual members via email to advise them that they are eligible for promotion, and to give them details of their promotion. It is up to the member as to whether they wish to accept or decline a promotion, should they decline, the promotion will not be considered again for the following periods

  • 2nd to 4th Dan, 12 months.
  • 4th Dan and above, 18 months

Certificates
Official EBKMAA certificates can be awarded or sent to the members who have accepted a promotion, certificates are individually produced and signed by me for a modest fee.
see our products section on the website.

Remember, if you are eligible and offered promotion through the EBKMAA, you are considered to have earned it.

If you are offered the opportunely to grade for rank advancement in any of the EBKMAA members ryu (schools), your instructors consider you ready and capable of passing.

Yours in Budo
David Wilson, Hanshi.
